Are inflammatory markers predictive of mortality in hemodialysis?
33rd Congress of the Eur Dial Transplant Assoc
Nephrol Dial Transplant (Jun) 11:A203 1996

This study investigates whether serum inflammatory markers (C Reactive Protein, alpha1-Acid Glycoprotein, s-Fibrinogen) and serum albumin predict 2 year survival and morbidity in HD patients (n=115). Multifactorial analysis showed that only albumin predicts survival and morbidity . These data do not confirm the recent findings by Bergstrom et al. (JASN 1995,573) suggesting that albumin has no independent prediction power on mortality in HD patients (Bruno Cianciaruso, M.D., University of Naples, Italy).
