Daniel W. Coyne, MD : is Associate Professor of Medicine (renal disease); and is Co-Director, Renal Fellowship Training Program; and Director, Medicine Multispecialty Clinics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He is also director of hemodialysis at the Chromalloy American Kidney Center at the University.
Dr. Coyne received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He later completed a fellowship in the Renal Division at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Coyne has served as a co-investigator in the HEMO study and as principal investigator in Amgen trials and the sodium ferric gluconate safety study. His research interests include anemia management in chronic kidney disease, secondary hyperparathyroidism, and hypertension.
Dr. Coyne has authored several book chapters, including the “Renal Disease” section of The Washington Manual, and has published several original investigations in journals, including the American Journal of Kidney Diseases and Kidney International. He is an ad hoc reviewer for American Journal of Kidney Diseases; Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation; and Kidney International. He presently serves as a member of the planning committee for the National Kidney Foundation 2003 clinical meetings and is a scientific reviewer for their national grant program. Dr. Coyne is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, International Society of Nephrology, and Renal Physicians Association.
