Calcium antagonists and mortality in patients with coronary
artery disease: A cohort study of 11,575 patients
J Am Coll Cardiol
(Jul) 28:7-11 1996

The controversy about the safety of calcium channel blockers in hypertension,
especially of short acting dihydropyridine drugs such as short-acting
nifedipine, continues to
simmer, although now the pendulum seems to have swung back to the point that
the validity of the
original studies by Furberg are being challenged (see
https://www.hdcn.com/newsal.htm#nws9195).
This paper found no increased mortality risk associated with short-acting
dihydropyridine drugs in
patients with coronary artery disease.
