Patrick Parfrey, M.D.
Dr. Parfrey is Director of the Patient Research Centre at The General Hospital and University Research Professor in the Division of Nephrology at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.

Dr. Parfrey received a bachelor of science degree in physiology and a doctor of medicine degree from University College, Cork, Ireland. He performed postdoctoral training in general medicine at London Hospital and nephrology at London, Charing Cross, and Royal Victoria hospitals.

Dr. Parfrey is a member of the Canadian Society of Nephrology, the International Society of Nephrology, the American Society of Transplant Physicians, the American College of Physicians, and the Canadian Liver Society, among others. He has written more than 230 scientific articles, books, and book chapters on nephrology. In addition, Dr. Parfrey is an Associate Editor for Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation and acts as a reviewer for Kidney International, the American Journal of Kidney Disease, Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, and the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Parfrey is currently involved in several research studies, including studies on the determinants, impact, and control of colorectal cancer and the clinical and genetic epidemiology of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy.
