Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease patients are at risk for recurrent intracranial aneurysms

J Am Soc Nephrol (abstract) (Nov) 6:718 1995

The risk of recurrence of intracranial aneurysms (ICA) in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) has not been well described. In this study 10 patients with ADPKD and ICA were restudied an average of 7 years later. 7/10 demonstrated new aneurysms on rescreening, mostly in the anterior circulation. The data suggest that ICA do recur and that close continued follow-up of these patients is essential. (Daugirdas)
