Prevention of relapses in systemic vasculitis

J Am Soc Nephrol (abstract) (Nov) 6:921 1995

Relapse of ANCA + vasculitis occurs in up to 50% of patients and is 4 times more likely in patients with Pr3-ANCA than in those with MPO-ANCA. Patients with persistent ANCA were generally maintained on azathioprine/prednisone whereas immunosuppressives were generally discontinued in those who became ANCA negative. Low-dose maintenance therapy appears advisable in Pr3-ANCA associated vasculitis. (Leehey)
