Calcium-regulated parathyroid hormone release before and after
successful long-term calcitriol therapy in secondary
hyperparathyroidism

J Am Soc Nephrol (abstract)
(Nov) 6:962 1995
Hypercalcemia and hypocalcemia was induced in 12 patients with
hyperparathyroidism on
CCPD before and after 4-12 months of treatment with intermittent calcitriol
in whom the PTH
levels decreased by more than 50%. The set-point did not change. PTHmax
decreased by 40% and PTHmin
decreased by 27% with calcitriol. The fall in PTH levels with calcitriol
could not be attributed
to a change in set-point.
