Second trimester 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring: can it predict the development of hypertension in primigravidae?
Am Soc Nephrol
J Am Soc Nephrol (abstract) (Nov) 6:642 1995

The utility of ambulatory BP monitoring was assessed in primagravidae to predict subsequent development of gestational hypertension (GH) or pre-eclampsia (PE). 1100 women underwent CABP monitoring between 18 and 24 weeks gestation. 6% developed GH and 2% developed PE. Nocturnal diastolic and systolic blood pressures were slightly higher in these two subgroups, but the increase was small (2-4 mm Hg), too small to be useful as a predictive test. (Daugirdas)
