Microalbuminuria commonly occurs in essential hypertension in patients with
normal renal function. In a 12 week double-blind prospective trial of 93
patients, both losartan 50 mg and enalapril 20 mg lowered blood pressure and
reduced urinary albumin excretion (by approximately 40%) to a similar degree.
