Localization of HCV in renal tissue of HCV-infected patients with cryoglobulinemic mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis: an immuno-histochemical study

J Am Soc Nephrol (abstract) (Nov) 6:431 1995

In this study, the authors observed positive immuno-histochemical staining with murine monoclonal antibodies against c22-3 and c100-3 proteins of HCV along the glomerular capillary walls, peri-tubular small renal vessels and within the intra-tubular eosinophilic material in renal tissue specimens of patients with HCV associated cryoglobulinemic MCGN. No such staining was observed in patients with MCGN without anti-HCV or HCV RNA. This study demonstrates immuno-morphological evidence of HCV related antigens within the kidney of patients affected with cryoglobulinemic MCGN. (Bhamidipati/Pereira)
