Examination for the thiazide-sensitive Na-Cl cotransporter as a candidate gene in Gordon's syndrome

Gordon's syndrome, characterized by hyperkalemia, metabolic acidosis, and hypertension with increased proximal tubular chloride reabsorption, might conceivably be linked to abnormalities of the thiazide-sensitive Na-Cl cotransporter. This gene has recently been cloned and localized, allowing for genetic linkage studies. Linkage analysis of 3 extended kindreds with Gordon's syndrome, however, excluded mutation of this gene as a cause. (Daugirdas)
