Prolonged treatment with the renin inhibitor Remikiren in
hypertensive patients with different degrees of impaired renal
function
Am Soc Nephrol
J Am Soc Nephrol (abstract)
(Nov) 6:653 1995
This was an evaluation of a new orally active renin inhibitor
called remikiren in 14 hypertensive patients, 8 with normal renal
function and 6 with renal inusfficiency and proteinuria.
Ambulatory blood pressure fell, both in the day and at night.
GFR was unchanged whereas RPF increased slightly. In 6 patients
with proteinuria, protein excretion fell by 27%. In all patients
a transient negative sodium balance and positive K balance was
induced.
Comment: These are encouraging
preliminary results with a new class of renin inhibitor.
