in post-operative prophylaxis against thrombosis in newly

This is a large prospective trial studying the effects of aspirin
or heparin on clotting incidence in patients with new grafts.
More than 400 grafts were evaluated. Forty patients were treated
with IV heparin sufficient to prolong PTT to 1.5-2.0 normal.
This arm of the study was stopped due to high incidence of
bleeding. In 199 patients receiving aspirin there was no
beneficial effect on access patency or thrombosis rate.
