ACE gene polymorphism and progression of renal disease
Am Soc Nephrol
J Am Soc Nephrol (abstract)
(Nov) 6:390 1995
In this paper 347 patients were studied with chronic renal
disease. 41% had IgA nephropathy, 33% adult polycystic kidney
disease, and 26% chronic pyelonephritis. The rate of progression
was quantified serial serum creatinine measurements. In patients
with the DD ACE genotype, the rate of progression (-2.6
ml/min/yr) was greated than in patients with the ID or II
genotypes. Apparently the only subgroup that this was
significant for was that with IgA
nephropathy.
Comment: This abstract is in agreement
with the data of Hamaguchi et al
(98/389).
